Travel Hacks: Minute Suites

So this week during my work travel adventures a flight that was supposed to land at 8:55pm ended up getting delayed (we were planed, then deplaned) until it was finally cancelled until 5:45am the next day.

At this point it’s after 10pm and if I booked a hotel room by the time I left the airport, grabbed a shuttle and checked in, I would have had maybe three hours of sleep before waking up at 3am to check back in, go through TSA and catch a flight.

Traveling while pregnant is already exhausting and I honestly did not have the energy to leave the airport. A friend, who was on my same flight, suggested Minute Suites. She was booking one and I decided to do the same.

Minute Suites are definitely a decent option for catching some Zs and having some privacy without leaving the airport. You can book a suite for one hour up through an overnight stay.

Each suite is a small private room that includes a day bed/couch, blankets, pillow, desk area, TV, white noise, temperature and Alexa for music.

While there isn’t a bathroom or shower, they sell a range of products. I felt like it was a bit of “airport camping” – purchasing wet wipes for my special “bath.”

Luckily I had my carry-on, so I was able to brush my teeth at the airport bathroom, put on PJs, clean undies and fresh deodorant.

Given the situation, this was the best I was going to get. The room was comfortable, quiet and the pillow and blanket were both soft and cozy.

The daybed is definitely not a heavenly bed, but it beats sleeping on an airport chair or the floor. I was able to charge my phone, slept for a few hours and had some privacy. The only downside (especially for this preggo lady) was my tiny bladder and having to walk to a public airport bathroom in the middle of the night.

It was definitely a sight to see…walking to the restroom in my lemon PJ set and Tory Burch flats. LOL. I will be packing flip flops from now on in my carry on in case this happens again.

The Minute Suites attendants were both super nice. The room was clean and comfortable and it would make a great option for a quick nap, a place to work/hang during a long layover or a place to chill out with your kid/family if you have time to kill at the airport. They also mentioned a lot of nursing mamas will book the suites for pumping/feeding.

While I would not wish this situation on anyone as nothing beats being home in your own bed after a long trip, I definitely would recommend Minute Suites as a viable option for a quick overnight, long layover or simply some privacy/nap time while at the airport.

Happy Travels,

Ivette

  1. Thanks for sharing! Until reading this, I’d never heard of minute suites before. I wonder if they’re something they have in Vancouver or not. I’ll have to look into it! Thank you.

    1. Check out their website and it lists all the airports where they currently operate! I know they’re expanding and adding suites with access to showers and bathrooms.
